P.E. Course

During the course of 2017 Miss Bailey completed a course through CPD College entitled “Getting Active” in Physical Education.

This was a very valuable and enjoyable course. It gave great ideas, resources and support tom teachers to ensure the P.E. curriculum is taught comprehensively to all children. The course covered all strands in depth, provided detailed lesson planning tips. Various teaching approaches were also presented to demonstrate how versatile P.E. lessons can be in Primary School.

TEACHER TRAINING

On Monday 9th October, Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Harrington attended an “Active for Life” workshop run in association with the Irish Heart Foundation in Thurles. “Active for Life” is a very important initiative which aims to support teachers in their delivery of a fun, interesting and active p.e curriculum to all children and is inclusive of everyone.

A school pack containing great ideas for active challenges, warm ups, cool downs, stretching and Bizzy Breaks, a set of bean bags, posters and a music c.d was received by each school. We look forward to putting some of these new activities to the test in our bid to encourage everybody to participate in a “heart healthy lifestyle!”
